Hi I am considering rejoining the electrical trade and wanted some advice on how to update my qualifications to current requirements. I am 15th edition qualified and completed an indentured electrical apprenticeship in the early 80’s.
Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks
Mark

Do the 18th when it come into force, try and get a site card and work as an electricians Mate just to see how you feel, you will need to get some more training, but quite which courses I'm not sure, some f the other members may be able to offer advice. Oh and welcome to the forum.

Do you still have your certificates and your Apprenticeship papers?
Was your Apprenticeship with a JIB company?
To get a JIB card, I would expect you to need the latest edition update course and of course to pass the JIB health and safety exam.

To answer both questions from spinlondon and peg: I completed my apprenticeship at GEC in Coventry. I am currently looking for my certificates. My career went on to service engineer, automation engineer (Robot programming, PLC etc) then in to supervision and management.

It depends on how far through you are, if you are in the first half then I would suggest you switch over, if you are in the last third then see it...
