Discuss new tariffs on solar thermal in the Solar PV Forum | Solar Panels Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Still no news sorry to say. DECC have their knickers in twist over heat measurement. As a result domestic side is a complete mess. There is supposed to be an announcement by the year end but don't hold your breath.
The renewable heat premium payment is a joke. ÂŁ300 now with no knowing what you will receive for 25 years following.
EPC of C will also apply.
implementation of RHI with so called Green deal in October 2012

I have never been convinced about Solar Thermal.
Claims of up to 70% of your domestic hot water produced!
Ok lets say 50%
Cost of heating hot water is 5% of your heating cost,
My heating cost is around ÂŁ1000 per annum,
5% of ÂŁ1000 = ÂŁ50, 50% of ÂŁ50 =ÂŁ25, there you go, that's how much you save.
If a basic system costs ÂŁ2500 installed, then ROI is 100 years.....
You can play around with these figures a little, but think about it, how much hot water do you really use in your house, washing machine "cold fill", dishwasher "cold fill", so just shower or bath really, hmmmm

When I am back at base, I will post figures using Tsol Pro. It is better than you think. I get 55% of my hot water in Edinburgh, so south of England will be better.

Great thing with solar thermal is being able to size a system to usage and location as less roof space is needed.

Viability will all depend on RHI as PV depends on FITs.
