Hello

Fed up with Fluke 1653 playing up any recommendations on what Megger to buy?

Not sure to stay with multifunction or go with 3 separates to save keep changing leads?

Testing both domestic and commercial

Thanks

The only problem with 3 seperate testers is you have to lug them all about. I've got a megger CM500 multi tester, had it for about 6 years now and its good, does 3 phase tests etc but it is quite bulky and the leads are a bit pricey!

I've used Megger 15** series for the last 6 years, and have never had a problem with them... They're accurate (sometimes not so much on no-trip loop though), never trip RCD's and they're nice and compact and rugged. Also only £451 from RS with manufacturers cert of conformity.

I recommend them to all the sites I look after in my job now, and everyone is going for them.

(RS must love me!)

Don't be put off because you have had a faulty machine. I have owned a MFT1552 and a MFT1553 which have both become faulty. I swapped to a Fluke 1652B (Which I said I never would) and it has been excellent, if this ever became faulty I would still be willing to try Megger again.

Also I would remember if you buy three seperates you will have 3 calibration charges per year.

I personally think that the Metrel is extremely overcomplicated, but that's just my opinion of course!

But then again, I do come across quite a few engineers who've never even seen a test instrument, let alone used one...

AT FIRST YE BUT YOU SOON PICK IT UP PLUS THAY SORE ALL YOUR TEST RESULTS AND LET YOU PRINT OUT THE FORMS OF THE PC.
IT DOES

on-line voltage monitor,
2-wire and 3-wire Earth resistance test with built-in battery operated generator.

Hi, did you decide to upgrade your test meter? If so, how are you finding it?
