Alright guys ive decided to pick up some new tools as the ones I got are fairly basic (JCB) Drivers & I was looking at this CK set for 200

Electricians Starter Bundle BARGAIN from The Crimp Company

& was wondering if I should get that or would be better off buying Separates for the same Money im also looking for a Cordless drill for around 100
if anyone's got any advice on the one to get for that Money it would be great thanks.

I Like that CK set but id rather have a decent tool bag as I plan to pick up more tools as & when I can afford them.

looks like a nice set but might be cheaper shopping around for bits here and their, toolstation, screwfix and wholesalers have some good deals on too. b&q are doing a decent stanley tool bag for 20 quid

Thanks for replying I have been having a look around on different Sites for bits & bobs as the cheaper I can buy the tools the more I can get. il have a look at that tool bag on B&Q.

can recommend ck magma tote as a toolbag. The one in the bundle is good but sometimes too small.
Good for tester and papers and some tools, too small for regular work.
Some tools in the set may not be much use (automatic wire stripper, mains tester), some can be subsituted for cheaper alternative (hammer, knife, tape measure). have a good look in the shops and think about it :)

Cost too much for what I want to spend on a Bag just found a Stanley FatMax Tote bag on Amazon for only 29 quid
Anyways just built up a tool list on Amazon along with a Bosch 18v Li-On Combi drill for 310 Delivered so il go for that if I can't find anything good in the shops on Friday.

BUY AS YOU GO ALONG , SET OF DRIVERS£30 bacho, CABLE SHEARS £20 Bacho or ck the 8.99 ones are good too, tape measure £10, fat max bag £20, pliers £20 knipex , aand a good bosch 24v drill even 2nd hand and and 18v drill loads of we bits like fish tape , cable rods alen keys , glan pliers etc can all be bought when you start earning..... cheap rachet/driver set from halfords £10, loads of white tape and markers and pencils £10

i was bought that home base drill bosch 18v, all i can say is one battery, no good , still going a year later tho, but i do plug in sds if lots of drilling, joists etc im getting panasonic 18v for crimbo, and second hand 24v bosch hopefully

tools u buld over time,
ebay has some tool sets

and drills pay more better the drill its best to get a 2 battery set to

I know but I saved up a little bit of money from my last Job so want to buy them now rather than as I go along (That I will do with Test gear & more expensive Tools etc)

@ Johnuk thanks for the Link I might swing for that instead of the Bosch drills.

I have that toolbag and am pleased with it. I do not have any of the tools listed tho.
Glancing at the list I would say you may well only be saving around £50. I personally would go for separates. Wera drivers are very good and I could not do without my Bahco ergo sidecutters.

Although I am a big Bosch fan, I would opt for a Makita. They seem to have the edge at this end of the market.

Hope that helps

just noticed, OP is from liverpool. can't be a proper scouser though, or he'd have nicked all the tools he needs by now. LOL. :laugh3:

Give it a rest eh! ,That Comment wasn't funny the first time it was ever said & Guess what it's still not funny now.

@ john25. i was born and brung up in liverpool. us scousers have the unique ability to laugh at ourselves. from your last comment you sound like a southerner.

Have you decided on drill yet??? Still debating myself? Anyone else see any good online deals???

Yea I ended up getting the Stanley Fatmax 18v Li-On Combi Drill from Argos for a 100 quid it had a lot of good reviews on it.

came with 2 Batteries & a 3yr Warranty. so I can't complain at that price

screwfix doing dewalt builders set 1 110v sds and a 14v cordless for £108 sounds like a good deal to me

I had it in my hand today , but set it back down , does seem ok and with so many brands and models , you never know if the kit is new,,, must be 40 types of 18v bosch and makita....

I would buy tools as you need them.
Too easy to get carried away when you have a bit more cash than normal.
As for screwdrivers I always have a set of normal drivers and a set of vde good drivers.
Its amazing how quickly you can damage a set of insulated drivers using them all the time.

Power tools I always buy the best I can afford and stick to one brand then you can add to your collection without the expense of different batteries and chargers.
I buy Dewalt but most of the guys on here seem to swear by makita.

A decent drill will last you years a crappy one will cost you money in the long run.

fancy tool boxes/bags look good but don't make you any money.

decent tools are a necessity not a luxury. Once you take into account the cost of them breaking midway through a job or you having to take longer to do the job because they are not up to it.

Shopping around is worth the effort don't dismiss ebay I've got some cracking deals there over the years.

hope this helps

I have been buying CK, wera, Knipex and Stanley FatMax kit. To be honest I could a have bought a new car with the amount ive just spent. I'm starting out on my own as a domestic electrician and had no tools so needed to stock up!

Wera VDE screwdrivers are really good by the way, I got the Wera Bigpack, it's got loads in it and it only about £45 if you look about.

I got an 18v DeWalt which works well, make sure you get decent batteries though, i got two 4amp batteries which pretty much last all week.

Bahco are the best in my opinion they cover most things , the side cutters are excellent ! and the bahco 319 hacksaw is the dogs danglies when your doing metal work if theres no chop saw. they also have some off the best spanners, shifters, files, ratchets, loads ! other things of the top of my head are stanley fatmax extreme aviation snips, stanley claw and lump hammer, stabilia torpedo level!

The wera bigpack?? I tend to find that if you get massive amounts of tools for a realativley small amount of cash, they last a couple of months - cheap and chatty! But if they're holding up for you then thats great.

I got an 18v Dewalt Drill aswell, it's a beaut.

I never stray from Makita, Bosch or DeWalt when it comes to powertools.
Facom are great for tool box's / totes...they last literally years.
and just get CK for handtools really, its what the wholesaler stocks the most of
