Evening gents, just wanted to say hi before asking some questions:smilielol5::smilielol5:

Ive just signed up with a training firm called ATLPT and just wondering if you guys have heard of them, used them and will i get what they are promising in the end ???

Many Thanks
Stu

Welcome aboard, whether you get what they are promising depends on what the promise is mate. Please tell us what they're offering you

haha guess your right there mate :smilielol5:

basically once ive finished the course and passed (hopefully), ill be qualified to

i just wanted to see if anyone else had any experience with them, and if they have, would they recommend??

they recon 8 weeks and ill be all singing all dancing hahah

nah, seriously, its meant to be approx 2-3 yrs, all home studying in modules, prac at the end of a block...poss 12 modules, prac course for a week them exam on covered modules...pass that, move to the next block etc

it was suggested approx 8hrs a week in the books and online, but the more u put in the quicker you go.

it all sounds great, and exactly what i want to do, i just want to make sure that the 4k course fee isnt being wasted.

my mate did a course where after 2 weeks he was certified as a domestic installer, now napit registered etc...but to me, it doesnt seem right that you can get "qualified" in such a profession in such a short time

Well at long last! Someone signed up to a 'proper' course. What practical arrangements have you got to augment your city and guilds 2357 underpinning knowledge course?

Good choice on that by the way.. you have a forum award for making the right training decision!

thanks mate, i appreciate that, my only other option would be full time college, but at 31, married, 3 kids and mortgage thats not viaable.

i cant comment on prac arrangements for the 2357 as that is 2nd year training...many many hurdles to cross before then :)

I will be making a note of that question tho as one to ask the "tutor" when i have my introduction meeting.

ive got a few mate that are sparks or pv installers, so ive managed to pull some onsite insight when im free..free labour for free access to the proper stuff.

this trade is nothing new to me as ive been in the building and telecoms trades since i left school, and it all ties in with my business...

I'd like to know why they're doing you 2 "part p" courses (I hate that phrase), defined and full scope. It's pointless, just do the full scope. Some of them are add on courses mate eg the in service inspection and testing of electrical equipment and you could probably get them cheaper at your local tech. Ask the questions and try to save yourself a few bob.
