Newbie needs some help please

Hi guys, Iv'e just qualified as a sparky and I'm going to rewire my friends house that he is renovating. I'm wondering if someone could clear up a couple of questions please.

1. The supply is a TT system with a earth rod out the back, the previous owner had a boiler fitted so the earthing was upgraded. The electrician has run 2 x 16mm earth cables up to the C/U. one goes direct to the earth rod and the other runs from the gas meter. The earth rod is right next to the gas meter so I thought I could go from the gas meter to the earth rod and to the C/U. Is this correct or does it need to go all the way to the C/U.

2. Checking the on site guide it shows cable run's up the corner of wall's, along the top of the wall's and horizontally at 150mm, but can I run the cable along the bottom of the wall's, behind the skirting as the house is concrete floors.

3. Just to confirm I have bought a BG split C/U with twin 30ma RCD's, This will be OK on the TT system..?? won't it. going to cross bond all the boiler pipes and bathroom pipes.

Any info would be great as I'm still learing.

You are going to have to learn a lot more.
1.)No, you cannot use the earthing conductor as a protective bonding conductor.
Why 16mm?
2) Safe zones. Check them out. If the sockets/accessories are at the same level, then yes, but you cannot really put them that low - Part M building Regs, so no, dont think about it.
3)Yes, that CU will be fine if plastic cased. Why cross-bond?

Are you sure you are competent to do this work? From these questions, it appears not. What will you do for testing before you energise the circuits?

steven don't take this the wrong way but you really shouldn't be learning how to wire an house without some help , from the basic questions your asking it is clear you are not competent enough to be doing the work , so do your friend a favour and don't do the job .

I agree...........so james............do you earth or equipotential bond or supplementary bond the armouring of swa cable when it has an integral earth/cpc core...............that is the question.

No more college for me tho............combined cpc/bond and integral earth rubbish..........it's not allowed anymore seemingly and I just want to be put out to roost on gardening leave
