Good Evening Everyone,
New member here. I will admit right off, I know next to nothing about electrical systems. I was a Electro/Mechanical Designer for 90% of my career, but to be honest, am scared to death of things I can't see.
Anyway, wife and I bought a new home home in Oregon recently, new to us anyway, and it has a large garage/workshop that was a determining factor for me. Appears to have it's own breaker panel with a 200 Amp Main. The wiring in this garage was DEFINITELY not done by a professional.
One thing that has peaked my curiosity, it has 2 breakers, both tandem (connect together) of 30 and 50 amps respectively. This garage also has a 220 outlet installed for a Motorhome connection I believe. One question I have is, what would be the purpose of these 2 breakers? I have switched them on/off but can't find anything that is affected by them. Does one of them possibly control the 220 circuit?
I would love to get the wiring completely straightened out but not sure how to proceed. Perhaps a circuit tester to trace the wiring??
Sorry for sounding crazy, but don't wish to hire a professional to figure this out for me. Nothing against the profession, just can't justify that cost.
