Hello all, first post so here goes.
Currently building my own house and want to do the electrical side too. if I had city and guilds 2382 would this be enough to keep building control (scotland) happy as long as I notify them in advance. I dont want to do part P
sorry if this has been asked before

a don't think part p actually applies in scotland think its England and wales only, i could be wrong though hopefully someone else can confirm this, you will need to be approved in order to sign off your own work though

Correct.

Part P does not exist in Scotland so no building control to inform, no one to notify, technically you can do whatever you like.

There's ÂŁ450 saved straight away.:)

Unless you are 100% confident in what you are doing then I would enlist the help of a spark.

C&G 2382 means you know how to look stuff up in a book and thats it, putting that into practice is a different beast altogether.

Are you competant in testing procedures??

Part P is england and wales only you would need to contact your own building control and ask them if they are happy with your qualifications as each council seems to diifer whatever reply you get make sure its in writing to cover you later if need be

I reckon 40yrs in the trade including testing & inspection should count....and Ive had no call-backs from Building Control since I started working for myself ...But I've been concerned about not having done a 17th ed. course and whether it could cause problems....
