Mr Privett

Hi all,

I have been offered work with a spark who's just done a commercial job where i work (as long as i pay for the training).
I'm good with my hands, can pick things up quickly and have done some basic wiring before and have had it checked out by my mate who's qualified and he said it was very competant.
Have been reading a few posts about training courses and am unsure about which ones to take to start me off.
Can you suggest the best route into the sparks business as i would like to do commercial as well as domestic.
I understand it's going to take a few years to gain some qualifications which doesn't bother me but not sure which route to take.

Thanks in advance
Mr P

Hi mate welcome to the forum
contact your local college and ask about there courses all the courses are changing
If you go apprentice route then 2357 electrotechnical diploma i think its called
this was due to replace the C&G 2330 LV2 and 3 technical cert and the NVQ lv3 2356

NOW i here as the 2357 isnt what it was supposed to be then they are bringing a newer qual similar to the 233o ask at your college mate

quick courses are expensive and are quick
college course is longer but not like apprenticeships of old
How old are you ? commitments eg family kids etc this will be the deciding factor

good luck mate

i'm 32 with a wife and three children.
i would like to do something alongside a qualified spark who can show me the ropes and give me some decent training.
i think this is my best option as i could earn a little and still train.
cheers

well you have what everyone else wants, a mate who says tag along but fund your own courses.. good luck whatever way you choose to learn the trade inside out. give it 10 years so may aswell do few years at college bet the basics in all
