Hi folks was hoping someone could clear up a few things about the law of certifying your electrical work in northern ireland, as i understand in england wales you have to be registered with a part p scheme such as niceic elecsa napit, but what about in northern ireland do u have to be registered niceic or notify building control? its just iv been asked by a family friend to carry out some work on commercial premises, any replies much appreciated.:D

Hi mate, over here you on't have to be registered with any scheme for commercial, just crack on with it

No for domestic you either have to be with niceic, napit or one of the others or notify building control who will be happy to relieve you of ÂŁ150+ for notifiable jobs, minor works are still ok to do without notification though;)

I didnt think that you needed to be registered here in NI for domestic work:confused:
How's all the cowboys getting away with it then ? Ive never seen anybody enforce anything like that .
Would be good if it was here though.

I wouldn't worry, no one enforces it here in England either. They just like your ÂŁ400+ once a year.

There is no such thing as Part P in Ireland. Notification is NOT required. It is in England and Wales ONLY.
