Hi

I have recently become self employed and need to join the NIC EIC & have been told that they will come to view one minor works and one major works, what is regarded as major works to them?

plz help

genrally it new circuits, board changes etc. there web site should have all the information you need. p.s you need to bare in mind labc.

Thanks was wondering that mate, did'nt want have the nic come and look at a board that i have fitted illegally lol
 
to be precise. local authority building control. when you are with niceic, they will notify labc for you on notifiable jobs under part pee
 
Thanks Lenny for posting the rules pdf - I've just read it for the first time (kind of thought I ought to as have annual inspection next week!) and have spotted this little lovely contradiction in it:

Section 1.2.(o) [continuing registration, pg 3]...... accept that if it can only provide access to domestic electrical installation work of a minor nature, the scope of its registration will be restricted to domestic minor works, and..

go to the definitions section and sure enough: Minor Works - Additions, alterations and replacements to domestic electrical installations that do not extend to the provision of a new circuit or a new protective device.

So we have it from source: The NICEIC do not understand Part P of the building regs.
