Hi Guys,

Part of my NICEIC Assessment i have been told to provide my 17th Edition Certificate but As i finished my College in 2010 i have already been taught to 17th Edition Standards why would i need to take 17th edition Test again.

My JIB card also states 17th Edition on the back confirming i am 17th edition trained.

Will the assessor still require to see a 17th edition certificate and considering 18th is out very soon seems a bit pointless to Take it if he wants it.

Appreciate if anyone has advice. - Rather not the usual Sparky Sarcastic Replies :)

Cheers

It's 8 years since you finished college. If you've not taken an update course covering the amendments in that time, they might take a dim view of that.

in the last 2 years i have done my NVQ3 & AM2
part of my am2 i need to do an exam covering
Health & Safety
BS7671 Part 1
BS7671 Part 2
BS7671 Part 3
BS7671 Part 4
BS7671 Part 5
BS7671 Part 6
BS7671 Part 7
BS7671 Part A
And Building Regulations

in my old jb card ,says I'm the king of England. with out some paper work .I'm just a commoner.

Kitchen fitter im guessing! Good luck getting anywhere with your "JB" card that can say what the fek it needs to but an "Electrician" hold a JIB card

If your training lasted more than 5 weeks then i am afraid you were ripped off and would appear over qualified. One outfit runs courses lasting 18 days. More than ample to join a scheme....

I had the same problem with the niceic. I was told my qualifications where fine. Paid for my assessment, and my assessor flagged that I had no 17th. Put my application on hold. And told me I had to do my 17th to finish my application. I payed 400 odd quid to do my 17th and on the day of my exam got a phone call from the niceic saying dont worry about getting your 17th we've accepted you. Typical 400 quid and 3 days work down.

Classic !
My lot said it was ok to start without 17th, but I'd need it for first renewal. As it turned out I had it before Assessment anyway.
@Sparky10 - flash the card and tell them you're planning to do 18th for next year's renewal. Hopefully all will be well :)

3 years at college mate and another 1 year NVQ3 none of this 5 weeks course crap where they hardly teach you anything and miss most of the stuff an electrician should know.

to. ( and that's a grammatical error. should be " to what i am replying". a preposition should not be placed at the end of a sentence).
