Had NICEIC assessment today and passed with Clive collett. Very nice guy ! helpfull and knowledgable etc as said in past post while i put in an extra socket at me mums had Ze of 6.2ohms ! dont ask ! some clown done a right bodge on a CU upgrade 5yrs back and no tests or certs included in price etc etc phoned mate at SSE and within an hr had a nice PME with Ze of 0.13ohm ! :D :p i have heard not as bad as thought it wouldnt be hard if you know how to test/inspect/install and know how/where to find answers you will pass if not learn first ! PM me and i will tell you what questions he asked/tests etc etc

1) What would you do if the Ze was high ? told him about the 6.2 etc and got browny points !
2) Why do we do R1 + R2 test ?
3) What is the min IR value from bs7671 ?
4) Max Zs on 30ma RCD (p49-50) (table 41.5)
5) What are the zones in bathroom ?
6) Are you happy with your test results and why ? show me in regs where ?
7) I f you had a TT rod and got on loop test 69ohms would you be happy with it ? if so why ? 200ohm or less anything above would be unstable !
8) Whats max Ze for TNCS/TNS/TT ? show me where in regs ?
9) on 30ma RCD test whats max opperating time on x1 ? thats 30ma test current within 200ms ! and on x5 ? equates to 150ma test current should opperate within 40ms !

as V = R X I volts = resistance x impedance so R = V / I & I = V / R ! = Ohms law ! also V X I = P or W (power or watts )

= for those of you in black and white the cue ball is just behind the blue ball !

Some questions he asked

with my KT61 on PFC test had to do loop on PFC & PSSC and calc KA = PFC gave 0.16ohms so 243 / 0.16 = 1518.75 Amps / 1000 = 1.52 KA ! & PSSC gave 0.18ohms so 243v / 0.18 ohms = 1350 Amps / 1000 = 1.35 KA so PFC is 1.52 KA !
ETC ETC

Hey all
Anyone with NIC how long was it before you got your welcome letter with your reg/membership number in ?
Regards
Kung.

Well done mate!

Not as bad as you think:D

Paperwork should be with you in a few days i would think.

Depends on how soon he sends the info back to H.O.

Also forgot to mention i have an old loop in loop out cutout system so told Clive as nextdoor is a childminder i couldnt just tell her and expect her to keep sprogs away from taps/metalwork etc and at home i couldnt do IR test only on single disconnected circuit as i did with cooker circuit but she was out when i did the IR on board as a whole eg L/N + E.
