Hi people,
I am an approved niceic contractor mainly doing commercial/industrial work with the odd domestic. I am thinking of doing the photovoltaic course with the niceic, only because its the only one ive really looked at on there website! Basically want to know if i do the course at about ÂŁ600+vat for the 3 day course will that give me the knowledge to design and fit solar panels? I know there will be a lot to learn once i start installing. I already have my van/signwritten and website and loads of tools (i know i may need more for this specialist work). If anyone has done the course is it any good? better courses to go on?
I wont be taking this venture on for a couple of months so just want the course under my belt.
Thanks

I gather the course like all courses have good and bad points, I did the ecoskies course and that was the same, so I doubt there will ever be the prefect course.

As everyone moans at the NICEIC, me included, but I will give them that their training and literature is up with the best so I would think that the PC course is not the worse.

As for the rest, well taking the course is a start, look on here and you will see many threads from established PV installers saying that the accreditation with MCS and REAL is quite a lengthy and involved process, and though some of the start up cost are not associated with you as your already trading, it can still be expensive.

Finally recently on here there have been a few discussions concerning the revision of the FITs in January, and how it may or may not affect the industry. I would have a good read through them as well before you decide if you want to go ahead with things
