nightmare of a day

Asked to go an swap a thermostat for a wireless model as located in poor position. Not really done much with boilers so call a mate who does this everyday,
Tells me to just swap thermostat with the wireless receiver an link live wit term 1.
So all confident, turn on boiler blows main fuse. Disconnected it all replace it how it was and now when turned on it makes a buzzing sound. Faulty resistor I'm guessing. Or unless anyone has had this happen before?
Moral is, never trust my mate who is supposably a boiler specialist

All joking aside, I will soon be fitting one of these myself in my mate's house that I've been helping him with. He finally moved in at the weekend after a four year slog to extend & renovate it.

Wish me luck, I may be gone for some time ..................

That won't work very well, the live to the receiver needs to be a permanent live, sounds like he's told you to connected it to the switched live coming from the programmer.
