Just had a look a a fuseboard change. bit akward, however the current owners are still occupying the house, potential new customer wanted me to look at property before he moves in???!!!
anyway, only time i could get access was last night in dark.
Quick visual of fuseboard, old wylex 3036 fuses, not a problem

only one ringmain, one light cct, however the light cct has no cpc.
other ccts are what u would expect, shower, cooker etc.

The new owner lives on his own and does not mind the place being knocked about however does not want to spend the earth on electrics.

Any reccomendations on whether to just run a single cpc to light points in house, or just to kitchen & bathroom and fit class 2 fittings or re-run new T&E?

I can re-jig the ringmain and split kitchen onto its own etc.

Any suggestions would be great as this is the first one of these that i have come across.

No need to cpc the lighting. You will have to make sure that all the fittings and switches are class 2 though, and you will have to note this on the cert. If you fit a dual split load board everything will be fine, even better if you use RCBO's but reading your post tells me that will be too costly. If you can improve on the lighting then all well and good, and splitting circuits is good as well as this will cause less inconvenience in the event of a RCD trip. I always fit a socket to the side of the CU, non RCD as a get out of jail if it all goes Pete Tong at some time.

Cheers........Howard

Slightly off topic sorry...but,

Thanks Howard like that one, good tip of the day (I always usually just leave a non rcd way spare, but sticking the socket there also even better) Got a few coming up soon where this would fit in well :)

Might be of no use but worth a check.

I have single wire output from CU to lighting circuit, no cpc however the single red loops through all the switches, the light fittings do have a cpc, run seperate from the earth block. May just be the switches that have to stay class 2
