So they can release a new one with a flash in 6 months and all the Apple fans will go crazy over it...

Apple always do the same...like with the iPhone slowly releasing old technology on the phone but people go wild over it...like a camera, Bluetooth etc...

Interesting article - I always believed that the reason Flash was not used by apple was because of a fall out between the two companies. Makes sense though:

"But the mobile era is about low power devices, touch interfaces and open web standards – all areas where Flash falls short."

Flash does use a lot of power and is not really compatible with touch screens.

As above. If corrosion or moisture hasn't affected the pcb, there are other possibilities - electrolytic capacitors deteriorated etc. A long shot...
