Im not long qualified, probably been less than a year and worked with the same company. Now I am doing work on my own, rewired a kitchen there but I'm used to my boss doing the testing or signing it off, I don't have city and guilds so what do I do ? Will I have to get some one in to test it or is testing and certificates 100% necessary ?

If you are recently qualified and do not have C&G, then in what are you qualified?
Finding out about initial verification, inspection and testing is something you do before you start work and not afterwards.
You will need to get someone in during the work to inspect your work as it goes along and then on completion they can test the work and then you will sign the design and construction sections of the electrical installation certificate and they will sign the inspection and testing part.
Inspection and testing is 100% necessary.

From your statement you imply you don't have sufficient experience to test and inspect therefore regardless of what qualifications you have on paper you shouldn't be doing the installation work without supervision from a mentor because you don't meet the legal requirement of competency. If you've energised the installation without testing and inspecting this would be dangerous practice and could cause injury or worse to the users of that installation. If that is the case I can only strongly suggest you isolate until testing is completed one way or another.

I'm closing this thread for now at least, if you'd like to PM me to demonstrate that you're not undertaking hazardous installation work with a view to getting the thread reopened, please feel free.
