I've come across a company that is mcs registered but it doesn't do sales just installations across the UK.

The company that does the sales uses high pressure sales techniques, massive discount if signed on the day. Will miss out if not signed today blah blah. The paperwork consists of a single page. The prices they charge are staggering. A three panel installation recently would have cost the customer £3500.00p if he hadn't had been told to cancel his contract with them.

The survey is done by the salesman/woman and consists of a brief note written on the sales agreement. If a customer tries to cancel they bully them to try and force them to go through with the contract.

Time between sale and installation is often about a week to 10 days. I've seen an mcs certificate that shows time from sale to installation 5 days.

They target the same customers over and over with different products from solar panels to windows and doors, roofing and anything else they can make money out of.

These two companies have different directors but they can be linked if you look . I cant believe they have been able to get mcs, recc registered.

Why am I posting this here? Well today I am giving my evidence to recc and their registration body. I am also contacting trading standards as well as the tv programme rouge traders in the hope that somebody will put a stop to them.

PM me the name of the MD/s, company name, e-mail address and I'll check if they are a member of the forum & the Green Lounge?

Please keep up the good work. There is a company that trades with a name is not vastly different to that of mine who are the bane of my life. Needless to say it is not their real name, just a trading title.

Be aware RECC are on the case of quite a number if these businesses. They act on behalf of consumers and often need a complaint from them. Also be aware they are unable to comment in any way on any ongoing investigation. This is not because they are doing nothing, but because of the legal implications of what they are doing.

It is worth having a look at some of the determinations on the RECC webiste.

No scaffold and the install is very short on roof anchors. This is a funded install in my area, they have to around 2000 houses to do, started last year.

Yes, I've got a picture like that. Also happen to have a contract with the social housing provider whose property it was. Interestingly they were already on the case as the gonks had done the same opposite one of their offices!
