could somebody please explain the difference between the total installed capacity? and the declared net capacity questions on the npower form. many thanks

Total installed capacity is wattage of panels time quantity of panels and displayed as follows 16 x 245wt = 3.92kWp
Declared Net capacity is what this is estimated to generate in the first annual period. SAP rating or Design rating for example 3362kWh.

I think N power only allows 5 days from commissioning to register a system without loosing days.

*****DISREGARD WRONG INFORMATION IN INNOCENCE GIVEN*****

TIC and DNC are actually defined in the legal docs.

The difference between TIC and DNC is what the generator uses to run / power itself.

They have very little to do with the number of panels on the roof :)

“Total Installed Capacity” means the maximum capacity at which an Eligible Installation could be operated for a sustained period without causing damage to it (assuming the Eligible Lowcarbon Energy Source was available to it without interruption), a declaration of which is submitted as part of the processes of ROO-FIT Accreditation and MCScertified Registration;

“Declared Net Capacity” means the maximum capacity at which the installation can be operated for a sustained period without causing damage to it (assuming the source of power used by it to generate electricity was available to it without interruption) less the amount of electricity that is consumed by the plant;
So for our purposes TIC and DNC are the same.

Also the 'generator' is the inverter, the panels are the power source...

So TIC is the lesser of either the maximum CONTINOUS rating of the inverter, or the nominal panel output x the inverter efficiency

Hence why power limited inverters such as the Diehl Ako 4300S can be used with Stage 1 even if you put 4.2kWp on the roof and the SM SB4000TL/V can't always be used with stage 1 as the paperwork still says 22A, however SOME DNO's are accepting software limited power outputs.

Clear as mud!

With respect, Mark, I disagree with your defiinitions. This subject has generated enormous discussions elsewhere. Both TIC and DNC are measured in kW. For a simple domestic PV system they are effectively the same figure equal to the LOWER of maximum inverter output and maximum panel power. The definitions are in various places in the legislation for instance:

@BruceB sorry about that !

Well bugger I've got it wrong and on ALL our notifications. Now I can't get my head round this!!!!!

The PDF didn't help at this time of night but I have saved it.

This is going to need explaining to me now!

When I have notified to MCS the DNC in Kw it's refused by the suppliers, hence my kWh comment.

No offence take and please correct away when needed.

Guys I see what I have wrong from the OP. I was thinking MCS notification. My fault entirely Many apologises.

For the declared net capacity field, enter the kW peak (kWp) capacity of the system once it has been
installed. E.g. a PV array which has ten 200W will be a 2kW system, therefore enter in 2.00 you will
not need to enter the units, only enter the figures.
For the estimated annual generation, use the figure you have obtained from the SAP calculation you
carried out. This should be in kW hours. An example would be 1350.00 again you are only entering
the figures, no units are needed.

I've still been getting it wrong on the supplier forms! My bad!

Isn't the DNC on the suppliers forms the same as the MCS? Isn't that the declared net capacity?

Well done Bruce B and everyone else that went before you. I have just come home scratching my head and a quick search on google and reading this post has cleared everything up. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.
