NVQ 3 2356 now without a job

Hi guys

i am enrolled on the course with my local college was going ok but now i have no work. Any suggestions on how to do this cost me an absolute arm and a leg and i had already done one portfolio but was out of date so they couldn't use it. Same reason got laid off just before the end. Maybe i am not cut out to be a spark before some says it but i have tried sending CV's out galore to the same response impressive CV but we have nothing. Its all becoming frustrating while i have a job again its out of the industry and i feel i am never going to get back into it. I love the industry but i just do not know what route to take now. Any advice you guys have or want to give would be fantastic.

Just keep at it, no point throwing it away now.
Post up your location and maybe someone on the forum can offer some work to help cover your NVQ.

as above,,,,,,, this happin to me many years ago was doing my nvq going well, then was then going to a job to finish my nvq 3, lets just say got hit from behind off work for 4 weeks, and then a couple of mouths later as the recession hiy I got layed off, so my nvq 3 ran out and had to start all over again but I never give up in getting it I got it 2 years later so, it nice when I go on sites and I have the gold jib card, and laughed when they had people lairing about there jib card saying they left them at home, and you never see then again, most job I go on if they want jib electrician and you do not have the card on the day you start, they just say don't come back straight away

Can you not try and finish it off by doing work for friends/family? How for into the portfolio are you?

Cheers guys its good to hear some of your stories gives me a bit of hope. I've got most of the domestic stuff sorted aside from testing... Without the testers it's hard work looking on eBay to get some cheaper sets so fingers crossed. I also posted a looking for work thread on here so I'm hoping maybe ill pick something up. It's such a tough industry now. Do you think if I gain some testers get them calibrated its worth joining strooma? As part p?

Which part of the NVQ do you need commercial work? I`m sure you could cover most in the home?

It will be industrial working with plant I think it is can I get round it?

No mate my local college not getting much help to write it up either getting frustrated wish I'd have gone with xs now
