Hi, I'm trying to find info on the registration (enrolment) of the 2356 but am struggling to find any info on the tinternet . Do you need to be in work before you can REGISTER for the NVQ 3 ? I know you need to be working to do it but do you need to be working simply to enroll (register) ? The reason I ask is because Ive just finished my 2330 level 3 and am yet to find work. I realise the cut of date for registration is dec 31st 2010 so can I register before dec and then find work and then then complete it ? Thanks in advance

ps . for those who have finished the 2330 l3 , would we need to sit the entire 2357 ( new qual coming in replacing 2330 and 2356) from scratch if we cant find work before Dec 31st 2010 , or would we only need to complete the NVQ part of it as we already have the theory (2330)

I hope you can help

I am in the same boat as you I have just finished my 2330 level 3 and am looking into doing the Nvq but I am currently not working in the trade

need to be working in the trade to do the nvq3 as its entirely work based

Yes I know but do you need to be working to REGISTER ? I know you have 2 years to complete it from registration date so can you register and then find work and then start it ? Or do you need to be working to even register ? I've been told contradictory things from different people so am a little confused

Where have you been looking to enrol mate? Training centres/colleges/JTL??

No where yet mate because I've only just finished my 2330 level 3 and am not working in the trade as I was laid off at the start of the year due to lack of work. I want to get back in the trade asap so I can do my NVQ 3 (2356) but the cut off date for the 2356 is december this year so my worry is that if I dont find work by then then it will be too late

......or maybe we will be able to do the new 2357 (after finding work) and will only have to do the NVQ (as we already have the theory in the form of the 2330)

I just hope that the 2330's dont become void and worthless without the NVQ 3 meaning I have to do the entire 2357 from scratch which will anger a hell of a lot of people in the same boat as me. I hope I can register without being employed in the trade, because I think its going to be hard to find work this side of christmas

It is true that you need to be working to do the NVQ. However, you do not have to be in full time paid employment and the evidence can be collected by doing voluntary work. The main thing is collecting appropriate evidence demonstrating competence in the workplace for the eight units of the NVQ and completing site diaries detailing how you carried out the work in relation to the NVQ's performance objectives.
