Hello all.

Before I begin I would like to thank all of you massively. I haven't posted before, but I have been following the forum for a year now and it has been a great help. I hope I can help out younger guys like me in the future.

I start my 2nd year at college in September, and have decided to start my NVQ. I know it may seem early to start, however I just like getting things done, and it seems exams get harder in the later years, so I thought starting this now may reduce my stress levels later on.

Now so far to date I have done a few write ups (including pictures) of me - safely isolating - EICR write up/ Full Test - DB change and some H&S things such as - Site Registration, Asbestos onsite and Risk/method assessments/statements. ( Am I on the right path?)

I am just looking for advise, maybe from someone who has done the EAL NVQ or something similar as to what they look for.
At the moment I plan to start types of cable support systems and cabling. I am just worried that what I have done and what I am doing so far is not relevant so a little insight into the criteria would be a huge help.

I am going to ask my TP all about this is my next site visit, but any guidance from you now would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

STM.

Hi, I'm currently doing my nvq (EAL) and I'm about 90% through.
The biggest thing I would say is the witness statements as you can cover so much more through them that photos, they also have more weight than your reflective account. Which they will hopefully say very similar things but it's witnessed by someone else rather than you saying it.
Get method statements, risks assessments etc for every job and gather up the manufacturers instructions. They can cover a lot of things within the NVQ.
