Hi all, posting this in here so I don't get bombarded with abuse on the main forums, but looking for some advice about the NVQ L3.
I've recently started on a L2 2365. We were also told the NVQ could be started during this L2. In my situation I have a few ideas, and questions revolving around them. I want to go in to the domestic side of things, self-employed is the goal. I currently work some weekends (rare) and during holidays with my uncle on the domestic side.
Questions:
Is working infrequently with my uncle (say average of 3-4 days at 6-7 week intervals) on the domestic side of things enough to complete the NVQ requirements over 2 years? Or would I need to work commercial/industrial jobs to complete too? Would this be enough work to tick the NVQ boxes over this timescale?
I understand the C&G 2365 L3 would be enough to start working self-employed in domestic. Could I then start working the NVQ L3 as a self-employed domestic installer? Or again, would I need commercial/industrial jobs to meet the NVQ requirement?
Would I need to complete the C&G 2365 L3 before starting to set up a domestic installer business? Or would I be able to do this after the L2, or part-way through the L3? I would never say "if level 2 is enough, I'll get that and stop there" - I'm only asking because if L2 is enough to set the ball rolling, it might be possible to start the transition across (ie start picking up electrical jobs) etc.
I know some people will ask why bother doing the NVQ if I want to work domestically, but I'm only 31 and feel that if I can get it done it would open other avenues for me too. I've always wanted to do this the right way, not some '2 week wonder' course, but also being 31 and having to work full-time while studying part-time, my situation doesn't exactly fit that of a 16-year-old apprentice, hence these questions surrounding the NVQ part.
Please don't bite, I'm only posing all this questions so I can gauge the best way to do things based on the situation I'm in.
