Hi some advice please I currently hold a 2330 level 2 an 3 and a 17th edition 2381-12 I have been working with an electrician gaining experience in domestic and commercial also do my odd jobs here and there now I would like to apply for a firm I am also looking to gain my testing and inspecting but would I need a nvq level 3 to gain employment as an electrician for a company.

Some companies would require you to have a electricians gold card (JIB/ECS) which would require the NVQ3.
Some companies will just need you to have the NVQ3 and other companies would just require a competent electrician.

Having the NVQ3 and an ECS card would open more doors for you but would not always be a necessity.

Thank you for your info I would like to complete my nvq but the guy I work with on a part time basis dosent cover every criteria to complete the nvq what's the chances of me gaining employment within a firm to complete my nvq

Should be possible, finding the firm could be the problem!
Explain that this is what you are intending to do and that you are still dedicated to the firm but are looking to expand your skills base to cover the additional aspects required for the NVQ so as to provide a better service for the firm!
Then they may be more inclined to give you work relevant to the NVQ rather than continuous motor connections or such like.
Good luck, find the employment first before you jump ship, or perhaps see if there is temporary agency work that may cover your required skills if you wish to remain with your current employer (but discuss this with him as well)
