Hi,

On Friday we fitted 10 vandal proof SON fittings with inbuild Photocells. All seemed well until 5pm. I should add 2 we different manufacturers, with the photocells on the side, as opposed to on the top like the other 8.

The two with the photocells on the side were switching themselves on and off every min or so!! Obviously their getting confused between day and night, but the odd thing was this is how they came supplied. To be honest it didn't occor to me when I fitted them, however I just thought I'd share my experience to warn others!

I'll post the manufacture up when I get into work tommorrow.

are they picking up light from the other units, making them think it's daylight?

Hi,

Infact it's themselves there picking the light up from. A design floor so far as I can see. Their mounted on a rough cast white wall which I suppose doesn't help, but even so..

Can you fabricate a small shroud to stop any light reflecting up to the sensor? A bit like a cup cut in half from top to bottom, just to try a see if that stops it.

Good idea, however I imagine we'll end up sending them back!

Just thought I'd let people know incase you ended up installing piles of them before you realised!!

Rich

Cheers Rich
