Just checking - completely off grid fit is 8.9p but no export tariff at the minute isn't it? I've totally confused myself and I can't find any information about off grid Fit at all, just buildings that don't meet the D rating. Going to have a look at somewhere in the middle of nowhere this afternoon!

are their even any approved meters to meter off grid, as they'd need to be on the DC side. There weren't last time I checked.

So there isn't even the 8.9p generation tariff - I can't think straight I've just heard that muppet on Radio 4 and there's steam coming out of my ears!

Don't get confused with off grid and standalone

Off grid is still paid at the normal rate but with no export whereas Standalone is around the 9p

Thanks, it's off grid but onto a temporary fix to feed a caravan while a bungalow is built. There's never going to be any grid connection so I'm thinking a smaller system not registered to MCS for the summer, then the rest of the panels on the roof and commissioned over the winter to whatever the Fit is then. That way he gets free electric over the summer (which is his main concern now) followed by 16p, maybe 14p by early next year (because the bungalow will be at least a C) rather than 8.9p if we register it before August.

Does that make sense? Strangely enough he's not really concerned about Fit but I'd like to get him the best deal we can, especially when he's got another 2 buildings going up next year he wants panels on.

I'd give GoodEnergy a call about the FITS registration, you can actuaaly talk to someone and then track the application through it's process if you need to. I can't fault their customer service.
