hi all new to this forum, i have had some plans sent trough to me from a main contractor. i have not really done much coomercial work befor, well i have but not designing or running the job.

the room is 15m2 with sockets and lighting,

i was wondering if any one had a plan of similar offices/ commerical work including

1) trunking or tray

what kind of wiring was used ect.

thnks u very much all

depends what the cliens wants?

dado sockets = expensive but lokos great and room for data and expansion
surface mini trunking=unsightly /easily removable if client moves out and has to return space as empty office
underflood with floor sockets=expensive but flexiable in possistioning
chasing in sockets = permanant not easily adjusted should need arise
as for tray ect 15m2 ? thats not big enough

as for lighting depends what kind of celings going in suspended Id be fitting 600x600 4x18w modules

spoke to the client he said i have to choose, so all cheap stuff!!!

so i was thing of running cable all in tray (from abouve ceiling) i have a plan if any one can give me a few ideas?

would u run try around the out side of room?

or one in the middle and come ut from there?

You may want to look at using cable basket rather then cable tray, and possibly using PCR's for the lighting connections. They make it a lot easier for future maintainance and you can carry first and second fix before the ceiling goes in.

Depends how cheap you want to go - I've wired offices in galvanised trunking and conduit because the client wanted it "rewireable", through to the other end of the scale with plastic conduit end boxes screwed to the concrete ceiling and the t&e held in place with hammer-in tie anchors (looks proper rough until the suspended ceiling goes up, but it's quick and cheap).

If you're using basket you may be able to do one run down the centre of the room and fix plastic end boxes to the side of the basket for the lighting roses, coming off the sides of the basket in pvc conduit and down the walls (behind the plasterboard if possible) for the wall sockets.

I was thinking of either running basket throught centre of the room and just come out of the sides. Or to run it around the out line of the room so it would be a square and use drops! I think the wall as going to be stud! So is truking rele needed! As all circuits will be rcd proteced?

It depends. What shape is the room? How will the lights be switched (eg all together, via PIR, switched in groups)?
How long is the installation expected to last (20 years, or will it be rewired in 2 years)?
How many sockets are required and how far apart are they? Are you putting in data as well? What is the ceiling like in terms of material, shape, ease of fixing stuff to it etc?

I can see this is going to be one of "those" threads.
Basically you will need 2 runs of cable - one under the floor for the floor sockets, and one above the ceiling for the lighting and probably the dado trunking as well.
