Hi

My name is Ben, I have been working in the mining Industry for the last 4 years in Australia. I have worked mainly in the construction of new mines such as Iron Ore and Oil and Gas. I have a wide range of experience in Heavy Industrial construction. I really want to live and work in Europe and i was wanting to know what electrical courses are required or preferred to obtain employment on offshore oil rigs. Do i need to have my Instrumentation course, or Hazardous Area etc etc. Any advice on any extra courses i should be doing over the next 6 months i would greatly appreciate. I am aware of the Bosiet and mist. thank you and i hope to hear back from someone soon. I understand its a hard field to get into.

thanks Durham.. but what is exactly is the Compex? Every country seems to have different names for specs of electrical . If i could get details on the length of the courses and what sort of stuff it covers that would be really helpful. I will check that link now anyway. first aid is standard in any construction in Aus.

thank you very much Timbo. that information and the link you have has helped me a lot. We have the same courses in Aus but different names. I assumed that would be a must for working in oil and gas. It twice as expensive i Aus too so I will try and do it in the Uk then early next year..

Does anyone know if i need to have "instrumentation" training also?
