My neighbour, a hellava nice chap who has a second home here phoned me last week to let me know that he was having PV panels installed and would I give them the spare keys I hold for him, imagine my dread as I arrived back home today to see a kitchen fitters van parked outside his house now I dont do PV but I have a good idea what involved, there is nothing on the van to state his credentials, thankfully he( my neighbour) is coming over this evening so I will have a word with him, so what exactly are the required qualifications, I would imagine that NICEIC or similar is a must but what is the other accreditations

As a minimum should be member of REAL (consumer protection) and has MCS accreditation with one of the following, NICEIC, NAPIT, ELECSA, CORGI and i think theres one more but can't remember

I think you'll find that there is no requirement to be "Qualified" to fit pv or solar thermal. However, you do need someone that is mcs approved to sign it off. Some kitchen fitters will have full scope and will be able to sign it off to comply with part p. If you needed to be qualified that would put paid to at least one firm in Cambridge using eastern europeans to install pv

I think I might brassneck it tomorrow and ask some pointed questions of the fitters, I really do not want this chap conned, mind you he is a solictor, so maybe I will prime him first

Maybe the kitchen fitter was there quite innocently to do the kitchen and had nothing to do with the PV?

No the guy had a new kitchen last year fitted by a mate of mine, cheers though
