We are currently carrying out a periodic inspection on a hotel. Some of the cabling within this is imperial sizing. For the purposes of the certificate, what are the equivalent sizes is imperials i.e. what size was generally used for lighting, power etc. The cable is stranded.

From recollection 3/.029 was the norm for normal lighting circuits with 3/.036 for heavier lighting applications.
7/.029 and 7/.036 was the norm for domestic power circuits.
I would think that most insulation on imperial size cables might be suspect by this time, especially old VIR.
