Hi,

Been asked to quote for a CU change in a upstairs one bed oldish flat, there a two old style wylex boards one is a 3 way and 4 way (i thought one was an extension board) however on closer inspection the 4 way CU has no power to it and it is redundant even though it has several cables in and tails. At the bottom of the stairs there are two MEM isolator switches and the mains is off.

Has anybody came across this before? Why would they do this?

Also would I be right to put all the cables in a enclosure next the new CU ill be changing

All info appreciated

Thanks

Both the MEM's were on but there is no power coming into one of the MEM. The 3 way board is the one that i will be changing and the 4 way is the redundant one. They are close to each. Would you leave the redundant one as it is or put it in a new enclosure?

Thanks

Be interesting knowing where the supply cables to the non-energised MEM are coming from.

Also would be nice to find out for definite where the final circuits from the dead CU go to - maybe they used to feed storage heaters?

If there is definitely no feed to it and nothing uses it then nice and easy!
