Hello!

I have discovered in the cupboard behind the shower an old, disused fuse socket. Directly next to it is a working and used fuse socket. Here they are pictured.

My suspicion is that it is just an old socket that couldn't be used for a "new" shower. Is this the case? And if so, why could the old fuse socket not serve the "new" shower and why was it not removed?

The fact that it's a 13A fused connection unit is an indication that the cable supplying it will be vastly undersized to serve even the lowest powered electric shower.
It's amazing how many unused accessories we come across on inspections!

probably hasn't been removed because whoever was too tight fisted to pay an electrician a few quid to trace the cable back to source and safely isolate same
