Thats what I think as the old dear who owns the cottage moved there in 1956, it had been partially electrified along with the farm in the years after the war, the place had the heating installation circuits done 7 years ago and a wet room fitted last year, why the lighting and power was left god knows

Yes, mid 50's is about right. The idea of a single consumer unit with fuseways from 5 to 30A really followed on from the various developments just after the war (inc rings and BS1363) and this was one of the first generation of HRC units following those recommendations.
