Hi all,

I have moved into a house which had a helvar system for lighting, digidim router, wall controls, 3 dimmer banks. One dimmer bank stopped working but that leaves 32/36 still functional. I had a helvar engineer out and they confirmed this sytem would still drive LEDs as well retained compatibility with their newer devices. In the end, I chose to replace the system altogether. However, I feel bad about scrapping the system and so tried to put it up on Ebay. not sure that is the right audience for it. I found a site willrose electrical that specialises in old breakers. I wondered if there is an equivalent for these lighting systems.

If it doesn't sell on eBay I guess perhaps you have an optimistic view of its value.
If you search 'sold' listings for Helvar, you will see the equipment does sell.
This may be a case of needing to advertise individual units or components, rather than one bundle.
It's a pain and time consuming, but you will probably shift it.

Agree, will try to list individually. I was myself in this position and if I had spares, I might not have overhauled my system so I am sure there is someone else out there. it is just a question of timing. the last thing I want to do is to scrap all of this. It just feels wrong.

I recently tried Hermes and it was surprisingly painless so I might put a postage option

Hermes (now Evri or something similar), Yodel Direct and Parcel2go are all easy and cheap options for small parcels up to 4 or 5kg on an ad hoc basis. Lots of other options for bigger and heavier stuff.

I regularly sell stuff on ebay and often use MyHermes. Never had a problem with them that I can think of.
Two deliveries from Hermes in the last month. One was untracked, delivered to an unoccupied house close by, where it (electronic stuff) remained in the rain for five days before being discovered. The house door has a name plate on it, so clearly not my house.
The second one was delivered to a house 400 yards away, but by a door that isn't normally used. I had a delivery pic., which fortunately my wife recognised.
My house has a slate nameplate, 350mm x 750mm, set into a wall, right by our entrance, and right against the public road.

Has your local driver been drinking? 😀

To be fair, most issues come down to individual delivery drivers. If online reviews are to be believed Hermes are the worst company in the history of logistics, yet my experience doesn't bear that out. In 2020 I foresaw the inevitable issues experienced by Royal Mail and switched to Hermes (against my better judgement and with consideral trepidation). From March to December 2020 I sent over 2000 consignments with Hermes and can count the number of complaints/lost parcels on less than the fingers of one hand - pretty much what I'd expect from any carrier during 'normal' times.

What the heck where you selling...Dusty's unwanted tools?

Wouldn't know, since he's never made it to here.
Sent off complaints in both cases, including a pic of my house sign for the second one.
Another one today!
Email from Hermes confirming delivery of another parcel this morning. No sign of the parcel, and no pic. for clues this time.
Fired off a complaint (4th in a month) to the vendor, and awaiting there reply.
Went outside half an hour ago, and the parcel was leant up against the wall by our front door. Looks like where ever and whoever they delivered it to this time, decided to just drop it off here.
