Sounds like a pipe tobacco, anyway I need to replace one that does hot water only, it is the type with the rocker switch and clockwork timer what is the model I should be looking for

Single channel timer if its just hot water

No No if its an Eco 7 then it will or may have 2 supplies pluse they still make it and Timeguard make a couple of direct replacements that use the orriginal back box

The BX2000 maybe also be a suitable alternative

Think of it as a 2 way light switch set up with C going to the immersion and L1 going to the off peak supply and L2 going to the normal day supply ie flick the switch and alternate supplies to the immersion
