Any one know the size of the old imperial conduit box screws ?? I don't have callipers. They look to me like 5/16" screws any help appreciated

Maybe just run them through with an M5 tap?

Well said that man as there is 2 ie 2BaA and 3/16 and as Marvo said get a M5 tap as you should have a set of taps and a dwang as they call it up here I carry 3.5mm 4.0mm 5.0mm and a bag of 5mm screws.

Just to add I do a lot of repairs so work in a lot of older houses with conduit that is also the main earth so I have seen wood screws jammed in the holes and rarely have I seen 2 screws in any conduit box hence why I tap them out to 5mm All sparkies should have various taps in their toolkit

This was also my line of thought. Usually when you go to the trouble of sourcing the correct imperial threaded screws you'll just find you're no better off because some animal has previously forced an oversized self-tapper into the hole.

Not sure what a 'dwang' is but I assume it's a tap holder. If it's on site and easily accessible I usually just use my small battery drill or I have ratchet tap-holders if it's in the workshop.

Yep Tap holder is called a dwang up here as in Tap n Dwang lol and I have had my dwang for 38 years so as Trigger say look after your dwang..........................................
