im fairly new to this! as in iv only been doing it 7 years!
but two things really get on my nerves !

1, doing a p.i.r and nothing has conductor id, is this a new thing(last 10 years or so) or are some people just lazy! considering i have got to spend the next two days putting bits of brown/blue and green/yellow sleaving on everything!

2, boxing in a c.c.u so i cant get the lid off! are people retarded!!!!????!!!!

rant over

cheers guys in advanced!!!!!

with you on that one,

went to a job last week and basically had to rip out half of a brand new kitchen they'd just had fitted just to get to the CU.

Funny thing is, they seemed more annoyed with me for needing to knock the power off to do some faultfinding on their ring main instead of the bloomin kitchen fitters ( who's fault it was in the first place)

Not happy, got backache from trying squeeze into cupboards as well..

i went into a club to find the chippy putting a false wall infront of a main db board  asked him what he was doing and he said it was un sightly and needed to be lost behind a wall. no access at all. needless to say the wall came down never to be seen again. mind they did paint it a revolting colour to match the purple paint throught. can`t win them all

The best one I ever saw was in a very old house...went in gas cupboard looking for DB and it was not there....tails from meter vanished under floor....lifted the trap hatch and there it was....screwed to the underside of the trap hatch.........class!!!!!!

Had they not heard of putting a door on the false wall so they couls access the DB?

pet hate of mine re DBs is putting them in cleaners cupboards in commercial, retail properties where the cleaner either Keeps the key or fills the wee cupboard so full ( also some chemicals of unknown flamibility) you cant see the DB never mind gain free access to it Other place is bakery flour stores where the dust could almost be treated like gas

the client said he wanted rid of it so the natural course of progression for them was to hide it the idiots. think i have a picture on my phone somewhere of a double socket they built a stud wall over. and all the fcus and sockets they painted. the work in there was a black museums worth of dodgy stuff.

Must say this would only merit a code 4 and not necessary to be rectified unless client has specifically requested it

Old school ? :)
Being a fully paid up member I can assure you that oversleeving was done in the past, as often as todays installs, now that could be often or not as the individual case may be

Are you saying you oversleeve older cable colours with present colours?
or is there none present on modern installs ?

If it is the first statemnet, its not needed
If its the second, you cant blame the old school ;)
