I changed an old double socket recently. The flush backbox had 6 lugs; two each on top and bottom edges and one on each side.
Yes, most of them I come across have six lugs, will take the usual side fixing sockets just the same..
i not got six lugs, just the usual two, left and right to stop brain falling sideways. serve a secondary purpose to stop specs falling off. pity lugholes weren't sited to block out 'er indoors.
Drill then tap backbox, use 75mm long pins if you need to
The old MK sockets with 4 fixing screws any one know if they are still available, or would the original back box have two side lugs, I cant remember as I have never had the occasion to look, I have a few to replace and trying to avoid plaster damage on a solid wal

always good to have a spare drill on board for those times (last thing friday usually) when using this method for repair etc and the drill manages to snap (itself!).
but seriously Tel you`d think they`d be able to just look at the situation...and suss it out for themselves....wouldn`t you...:nonod:No. read my post.
OK...so....when was the last time you ground up a drill properly?always good to have a spare drill on board for those times (last thing friday usually) when using this method for repair etc and the drill manages to snap (itself!).
OK...so....when was the last time you ground up a drill properly?
you want a high speed for small drills and a steady hand as its all about keeping the drill straight and level when drilling....isn`t it really...
but i guess all the usual suspects are going to appear now to tell me to `leave off`
and how i am `being harsh`...or some other twaddle like that...
i suspect the time i worked in plating/welding/fabrications (heavy industries) wont be considered during the verdict...
