on the sick

hi all i just wanted to ask if you guys have any knowledge or advice you could give me on this i recently had to go on sick leave for reason i will not go into anyway my work wont pay any sick pay apart from ssp which is crap as some of you might know, anyway what i would like to know is should i contact anyone for any benefits for being on the sick also i was wondering if its possible to do some online earning if anyone knows how to do this plz let me know. thanks.

A trip down to your local DSS office might be in order too, if you're up to it.
Don't look too healthy though, suspicious sods they are.

I believe the only benefits you would be able to claim whilst on SSP is Housing and Council Tax benefit.
You may be able to claim them OnLine.

Not sure about online earning but there is an online benefits calculator that may give an idea as to what you could claim:

if you are unfit to work, you should be able to claim employment support. it's similar to what used to be called income support, i.e.dole without signing on.

I believe that whilst someone is eligable for SSP (first 6 months of sickness) they cannot claim ESA.
I also believe they will also have their Housing Benefit/Council Tax Benefit reduced, because SSP is slightly more than JSA (the minimum the government allows someone to live on).

If its long term sick then it might be better getting gaffer to pay you off due to ill health then claim benefit
if its short term the bru might not help as they seem to be more concerend with junkies n imigrants just now

I dont usually advocate insurance companies per se, as they usually always try and worm their way out of coughing up for anything. However I do use this company more for peace of mind than anything else, they are very good (I've made one claim) and I only pay around £11 per month for full cover.
