Im having a bit of an angry time with this crappy setup, and I was wanting to know if anyone had experience of also using these.

Basicly Ive followed the awesome user guide, and put a max of 4 ballasts on each dimmer (well 5 on 2 of them but none of them work right anyway)

So.

The ballast (which has 1 - 10v all over it) Provides 11.5ish volts at max, and the min can be set with a little variable thingy on the bottom of the MK dimmer, and so the problems begin.

So if its set to 0v (first attempt) after about 2mins POW! 1 single fitting comes back to about 80% brightness for no reason (Dimmer still maintains 0v) same happens, with 1v,2v,3v, I can set it to about 4.5 as a min, and it works fine. but its not dark enough for the client. Also when there set low, they eat the lamps for fun. burned about 8 out Just trying to stop the damn things flickering.

So, some of them Just go bright for no perticular reason. Some do the funky disco rave. (BIG FISH little fish, smash a f*cking light fitting!)

Ideas?

Sidenote: Im a subby not a contractor, I would't fit this poop.

edit:

Ive got 7 rooms with at least 14 dimmers none of them are much use :|

The problems you are experiencing are typical of trying use leading edge dimmers to control inductive loads. You need to change the dimmers for trailing edge dimmers which are designed specifically to control reactive loads.

The commercial dimmable ballasts I see are 1v = max light ouput (or no connection to the 1 -10v ), 10v = minimum output.

So to increase the minimum setting you are looking for 8 or 9volt.

Ive tryed the technical, Well sort of

Mk say theres no known issue, and dont want to know
Osram said the only thing that effects them is if you run the mains with the Low voltage, made sure they where miles apart, made no odds.
Fitzgerald said he didnt know and some bloke was going to ring me back and never did

Gone home for the weekend now.

@ snow, The light fittings produce the 11v, if its open ie, at 11v its max brightest, they do get dim at 1v but you can see the lamps getting blacker on the ends and burning out. that or they just flicker back on to 80% brightness no matter what the voltage

@luke do you remember the name of the dimmers you used?
