Hi folks, went to see a board change today at the moment it's bs3036 fuses. only major problem that came up was new bathroom circuits(shower/light) had been installed via a 2way type b rcd unit.......

But the cables are about a foot short from current db position. I'm planning in installing a 11way Wylex rcbo board, so I don't fancy having two rcbo/rcds in line. Was thinking about supplying the shower unit with a 45/50 amp mcb. Supply circuit will run surface (all 1foot of it) and not supply sockets so I'm saying doesn't need rcd protection?
Other way is a junction box, but tbh I don't fancy that.
Last option I had thought of was to make the supply to the rcd unit a 40amp rcbo type c/d zs permitting?

anything obvious I'm missing?

thanks

Your right in saying the surface supply to the shower board does not require RCD protection provided the info given is correct. Are you installing a duel RCD unit? If not just feed from non RCD side. Otherwise as you said join/extend the shower cable. Wago din rail enclosure.

For the sake of one 60A junction box and a little one for the lighting, I'd just tidy it up into the one new CU.

Sometimes there's a good reason to have multiple boards, but one new board with some spare ways is how I'd do it.

Not in a standard sized house there isn't!! lol!!

As for the OP, ....extend the two existing cables using a suitable enclosure and connection methods into the new CU, ....Job done!!
