Well i looked at a job for local pub today, he currently has some outside lights which were done by the company that owns the building. These are wired in FP

The wiring is outside but it is sorta under a wooden shelter type thing (Smoking), he wants the CHEAPEST possible install as he is not really happy having to spend his money on the building when it should be the brewery.

Is flex ok outside i obv know about all the UV etc weather, heat.. Is there anything in the regs that says this is a nono? Also does anyone know a CHEAP alternative weather cable? At my old job we always used FP but this is about ÂŁ100 / 100 meters (Online not got price from local supplier) but dont think he would be happy paying this as i only need about 10m of 1.5mm and 5m of 2.5mm... and as im doing the job basically for nowt as he has looked after me in previous ways.. "mates rates"

Suggestions / Ideas would be greatly appreciated. Also looking at a Elkay 15A time delay switch, will this be ok switching 2 x Electric heaters? the power comes from DB to a external SPUR, then id take it from SPUR to push switch then out to 1st heater then to 2nd heater. Heaters will be about 2meters from switch then 2meters between heaters.. SWITCH <--2m--> HEATER <--2M--> HEATER

Black rubber (or PVC) flex is OK for outside use so long as it is appropriately sealed at fittings, etc.

What rating are the heaters? so long as they are under 1500W then you should be OK, will the spur have a fuse in it?

SWA is cheaper than FP...

We could say flex type cable was ok but we dont really know the scenario, how likely is it to get damaged?, maybe most of it is at high level but what about where it comes down to the push switch?...

would be better in SWA, I'd of thought...

Sent from my Xperia S using next doors WIFI.

Yeh will be high up, from a 13A spur down to a push Elkay 15A switch to two electric heaters, issue is Electric heaters are ancient.. And dnt know the rating =/ he recons there 1500.. But im unsure o_O
