I bought an outdoor floodlight to replace a faulty one. Once I removed cover I can see old light has 4 wires, Red, Black Green/Yellow and Grey. New light is only 3 wires Brown, Blue and Yellow.

So I’m thinking Red to Brown, Green/ Yellow to Yellow, Black to Blue. The Grey wire is the one throwing me. Can I wire up the rest and leave grey out, wire grey into somewhere else, neutral maybe? or am I destined to find a four wire replacement instead.

There is one switch that operates this light, but it is a two switches fitting, the other switch being for an inside light that can also be switched on/off elsewhere in the kitchen. Pics attached. Advice appreciated.

Don't guess! The neutral ought to be the grey, and either brown or black a redundant PL. Do you still have the old light? Can you see inside it?

Old light is still out there. I left all well alone when i realised it was not going to be a simple job. I will take the old one down and take a look inside if poss and get back to you. Thx.

Furthermore, as the left hand switch will currently not do anything, I'd try the loose brown in here:
