Outdoor sensors - security - other than PIR

Hi guys, I've got a problem that needs a fairly urgent solution.

I have a customer where we replaced 4 sensors (PIR) that protect his house and switch on several flood lights around the perimeter. This also links up to a buzzer and indicator lamp indoors to notify him that the sensors have been set off.

Unfortunately, moving trees among other things are constantly setting the sensors off. We initially used Steinel 1402 and 300B's then moved over to Guardian 4000's with sensitivity adjustment, only to find the problem got worse.

Really what I'm after is microwave/RF sensors that only detect people (animals would also be acceptable) but haven't been able to find any that are mains and suitable for the outside. Closest has been one by MK but it's not appropriately IP rated.

Any help at this stage would be very much appreciated.

Hi, Good question and a good valid point, I have used a lot of microwave switches myeslf but all internal. If it were me M8 I would ring the wholesaler you use the most and speak to someone down there with some go in him or her, tell them what you want and I bet they will be able to source and supply one for you. It is however their speciality, let your wholesaler do the Donkey work for you, good luck finding one in any case, I am sure you will.

Yes I agree with mike. We've used some lately but they have always been inside a fitting. Ansell lighting would be a good place to try but apart from that use the wholesaler to do the running

GJD, have a new external laser detect system, which states, it cuts down unwanted false triggering.....haven`t used one myself, but my be of interest, as GJD are usually spot on equipment...GJD | D-Tect LASER | Intruder Detection | Perimeter DetectionGJD
