Hi all

The subject says it all - there's a lot of outside exposed clipped t&e out there with all the attendant physical protection and UV issues.

Question is - should it have a fault code on a report? I guess it would be a C3 at most, but should it feature at all?

Cheers

If it’s a short stretch of cable from say a hole to a light then no code

if its yards of cable clipped all around the house getting baked in the sun but no visible damage then code3

if It’s visibly badly damaged And crumbly to the touch then code2

Depends, on a few factors...
Use your engineering judgement and be confident in your decision.
Books are good for guidance but they cant account for every situation.
You could code this C1 C2 or C3. Maybe no code.

I'd check If it's all gone brittle or not, and where it is? I'd personally code it differently depending on risk.
If it's at a school where kids might pick snd pull at it you may want to code it as a C2.
A small section going into a 500w flood light high level in someone's back garden in good condition is probably most likely ust a C3

True. Although I'd hazard a guess that things like woodworm treatment are probably chemically quite similar? Don't know.

As the cable itself has had the cpc cut off at both ends I would enter a C3 as it doesn't offer any protection within the cable if accidentally...
