I know you will ask and for the life of me I cannot remember where it is TNCS or TNS.
But

If you were installing various submains to stables / store huts etc from a central dis board.

Its generally for lighting with a few sockets here and there.

Would you create individual TT systems?

Sorry, try to explain better.

Assume we have a TNS system in a building, the building has many outbuildings anywhere from 15 to 70 mtrs away.
there are to be sub-mains cables for small consumer unit to feed lights and some sockets, would you create an individual TT to each outhouse? or would you use the earth from the main dis board?

Its the PME TNC-S system you shouldn't export the earth.

So ok then if it is a PME then create a TT system to each outhouse so the original earth is not used.

Hi

TN-C-S supplies don't go well with farms, if it is TN-C-S you can supply the farm house and then supply the outbuilding and barns with local earth electrodes (TT installations). Don't interconnect the earthing systems though.

Question ....Do you guys use the TN-C-S earthing to protect the submain to the outbuildings? or do you dump the TN-C-S system and just use TT and interconnect.

TT all the way for me too.:)

Reason being the amount of steelwork likely to be found in an agricultural situation i.e, pens, gates, structural steel etc etc.

I think section 705 says something about not using TN-C-S in agricultural unless there is an earthed metal grid in the floor used as an extraneous conductive part.

Your situation does seem to be different, a TN-S would be fine, if not then TT.

Guys what are your views on earthing submains from TN-C-S supplies , and what are your views on TNS supplies to outbuilding not necessarily farms..

Appreciated your opinions

Earthing the armourings of an swa for instance, with the main supply earthing system is fine, as long as they are isolated at the other end (if the job requires it).

No problem with using a TN-S system anywhere, size conductors accordingly and away to go.:)
