Hi

Been asked to fit just two lights in a small concrete block outbuilding - the building is only 8ft from the house - will be using 1.5 SWA total cable length 30ft - will be direct into a spare way in the CU (RCD additional protection)

My question is do I have to fit a small CU in the outbuilding or can the SWA from the house CU be connected straight to the switch?

Also any recommendations on where to buy Catenary Wire - to to suspend about 8ft between buildings

terminate SWA into an adaptable box in outbuilding. then use T/E to switch, flex to lights. make sure banjos and fly leads are fitted to the glands. cataenary wire and fixings can be bought as a kit from any reputable wholesaler.

YOU MAY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH DISCRIMINATION. A 6a mcb WILL PROBABLY OPERATE BEFORE A 3a FUSE. in the case of a lamp blowing.

edit: sorry for the caps. lock was on.

I would be tempted to fit a metal clad FCU and gland the SWA straight into that, then a short length of 20mm plastic up the wall to protect the t&e and clip out to the lights.
