I have a floodlight with timer in the garden. I have been told that if you flick the switch on/off twice, the floodlight will stay on. But this is NOT happen. what may be wrong??

Is it a plug in type of timer? If yes try unplugging the light from the timer and plugging it straight into the socket and try again; as it wont go into bypass mode if it is going through this type of timer. With this said the timer itself should allow you to switch the light on as it may have bypass facility

Equally though if it goes from the timer to the switch you may simply have no power to the light as the timer may be in the off mode and usually you only need to switch it on and off once (well i do with my light)

that only works with certain lights not all of them,if it says in the instructions for that light that it will do it then it should but just because someone elses light works that way doesnt mean yours will.with regards to switching on and off you have to do it really fast, off then back on dont wait even a couple of seconds.hope this helps

the flick on/off idea is used with PIR floods. if you want it to stay on manually it's a far better idea to use an override switch to bypass PIR etc.

I knew i should have stuck in at school and got my a level mind reading!
the wife says I,m losing my mind so I,ll be beggered if I,m looking for someone else,s .Some people must think we,re psychic, bit like when someone phones up and says "that thing in my cupboards making a buzzing noise, you know the white thing with wires coming out of it".

And they expect us to fix it over the phone after all my wife tells me every job i do only takes 5 minutes
