You might want to turn the pic on its side, appoliges!

Here we have a diagram of outside lights. The 2.5 cable is coming from the C/U to the light outside then onto the switch. It's on its own circuit with nothing else added.

Theres a separate socket on the other side of the wall which has 2 cables. One going the outside wall, the other towards the other light outside, although they aren't connected together to make a circuit yet.

If that cable where to be joined to the light, am I right in thinking that it'll make the other switch the main live point instead of the light.

Is best practice to connect it to a loop, running another cable from light to the other light and doing away with one of the cables that's going to the switch.

Light pic to follow

Your terminology of what is in situ is difficult to decipher and I am not 100% sure what you intend to do is legal unless you use the services of an REC. @Risteard will be able to confirm this.
Thanks @westward10

If the cover of the DB is to be removed then this can only be carried out by a REC. The only thing in a domestic premises which a non-REC can do are "minor works". The Commission for Regulation of Utilities (formerly Commission for Energy Regulation) has given examples of what count as minor works. See the link below for clarification:

Anything other than Minor Works will qualify as Restricted Works.
